The amazing Dave Dorman creates a dramatic sketch in his second installment for Sketch Theatre along to a pretty sweet tune from The Antlers.

This piece was done during Comic-Con in San Diego this past summer – amazing how Dave clears his head and can just crank this out, given all that was doing on the day he did this!

I amazed he has these thoughts in his head. That is a great sequence.

That was just fascinating to watch. I like to draw a little myself, it was really something to watch.

Dave is a truly gifted artist. I’ve admired his work for many years and was able to check out his Gnomon Workshop DVDs: http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/store/category/130/Dave-Dorman, which really showed me the foundation of Dave’s painting techniques. I thought this sketch was very effective and worked out quite well for something done at Comic Con, but I also want to know if he went further with it, and if so, how did it turn out? You know … 90 percent of the finished work is in the final 10 percent and all that. But that’s me just rambling one. Go Dave.

Consistently rad. I’ve had opportunity to view (beautiful) finished pieces, but never really the bones of his work.

A great artist and a great guy. I’m awestruck by his talent and love seeing him in action. The future holds limitless possibilities for Dave and his work.

Terrific. I had no idea Dave was doing this and I was 2 seats down. Great sketch and a fascinating look into his process!!!
